On May, 8th a meeting with representatives of the International Financial Corporation (IFC) – a World Bank member – was held in "Brest" FEZ Administration.IFC is a global institution that provides financial support to private sector projects in developing countries.
To meet these tasks the company involves its financial potential, technical knowledge, global experience and innovative thinking.
The head of the regional Office of IFC for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Jason Pellmar and the head of the Office of the International Financial Corporation in Belarus Olga Shcherbina participated in the negotiations.
The IFC representatives spoke about the basic directions of their activity, the most significant projects and principles of the investment policy. The Financial Corporation has been working in Belarus for 25 years. During this period of time 730 million dollars have been invested in 56 large projects, including bank sector, trade, the food-processing industry. Mostly, those projects had been implemented in Minsk and Minsk region. Now IFC is actively supporting the companies in other regions.
The guests watched the presentation film "Brest FEZ is a Territory of New Opportunities"», they got acquainted with its activity, economic potential, possibilities for implementation of investment projects in various branches.
During the negotiations the ways of cooperation between the FEZ and the representations of the International Financial Corporation for Belarus, including attraction of foreign investors with IFC support, were discussed. It was agreed to inform the FEZ residents and companies of the Brest region about the possibilities of cooperation with the IFC offices in Belarus.
