The 2nd economic forum of twin towns and partners held on 5 September as part of the events for the Millennium of Brest City.
The Forum attended more than 350 representatives of business community from the near and distant foreign countries. 40 delegations from 18 countries visited Brest for economic cooperation.
Extensive coverage was given to “Brest” FEZ as an important integral part of the City and region economy. The FEZ was presented in the lobby of Oval Room of Brest City Executive Committee, where were also placed the exhibition stands of enterprises and organizations.
Delegation members were introduced to economic potential of FEZ, its investment climate, tax and customs benefits provided for FEZ residents.
During the plenary, the CEO of “Brest” FEZ Administration Fiodar Kalanchuk addressed the Forum participants. He informed partners about the activities of the free economic zone. Currently, 74 enterprises with a total number of 21.5 thousand employees are registered here. The main investors in "Brest” FEZ come from Germany, Russia, Poland. Also the companies from Italy, Cyprus, Israel, Great Britain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Czech Republic and other countries are successfully operating.
The CEO of the administration noticed that FEZ “Brest” provides an exceptionally favorable business environment. A combination of significant tax incentives, customs and administrative privileges, and solid legal guarantees provides the resident companies with an opportunity to successfully implement their investment projects and make high profits.The benefits provide a reduction in the production cost and, as a result, increase its competitiveness in the markets of the Eurasian and European Unions, as well as countries of the “far arc”. That is why export destinations of FEZ residents is expanding every year and includes more than 70 countries.
Conversation with representatives of business community continued at the forum platforms. The CEO of the administration met with members of the Polish delegation of the Lower Silesian Agency for Economic Cooperation (Wroclaw). An agreement of cooperation was signed with this agency previously.
A separate meeting with polish businessmen scheduled in administration of FEZ in order to discuss issues of mutual interest.
After the plenary and the signing of the agreements, the forum participants continued their work as part of thematic groups.
