The Central European Initiative (CEI) was created in 1989 as an organization committed to promote the development of sustainable relations between the states of Central, Western and Eastern Europe.
The main objective of CEI is to promote European integration and rapprochement between the EU and European states that are not members of EU. The activities of CEI are committed to help strengthen flexible and pragmatic European regional cooperation in the areas of cross-border cooperation, energy, transport, science and technology, education, culture, small and medium-sized businesses, agriculture, environmental protection, human resource development, information and the media.
The Republic of Belarus joined the Central European Initiative on a full basis in June 1996.
Representatives of the "Brest" FEZ participated in a panel discussion "A macro-regional policy for the development of European Corridors" with a presentation of the logistics potential of the "Brest" FEZ and the Brest region.
The forum participants were also familiarized with the location of investment sites, the development of engineering and transport infrastructure, investment conditions, and a preferential regime for residents. Particular attention was paid to the advantageous geographical location of the Brest FEZ on the border of the EU and the EAEU, as well as to the participation of the city in the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative.
All of this increases the attractiveness of the territory of the free economic zone in the context of the implementation of new projects in the field of logistics. According to the program of the visit, the deputy chief of the administration of the “Brest” FEZ Aliaksandr Shukaila met with the representatives of Italian business circles. It was agreed to organize a visit of Italian business circles to Brest at the beginning of next year.
